The Square shape of the trays makes preparing cookies, crackers, fruit rolls easy, whereas making these items in a round tray is problematic due not only to the shape but because of the hole in the center, making it impossible to simply spread out the batter.
The Excalibur's cabinet can be operated with any number of trays -- or no trays at all. This gives you the option of using it to make a thick loaf of bread or many trays filled with crackers.
The Excalibur 2900 Dehydrator comes with 9 drying trays, each 14.1/2" x 14.1/2" Also included are 9 stick-resistant poly mesh sheets. A large 7" diameter fan creates a strong airflow, with a 600 watt heater. The Temperature is adjustable between 85° F and 145° F. The Excalibur dehydrator's outside dimensions are 12.5"H x 17"W x 19"D.
Optional but important when using wet batters that could drip through the mesh sheets or when drying items like sliced tomatoes that can drip through and make a mess are teflex sheets. These are solid sheets that are placed over the mesh sheets. Normally the teflex sheets are an additional $10 each.
