The reason I have chosen The Raw Truth by Jeremy Safron as the third book in my list of recommended raw food books is because of all the sticky-notes I have all over it. Each time I come across something interesting, a new fact or an excellent way to describe something- which includes eye-catching or clever recipes, I put a green sticky-note on it. This book is covered with green sticky-notes.

Jeremy has owned two raw restaurants in Hawaii, but unlike many restaurateurs, the recipes in his book aren’t overly complex. With the ever-growing list of new foods to add to your raw pantry he does an excellent job of describing all types of fruits and vegetables and what to do with them. He gives good basic, sought-after information as well as providing tasty recipes that for the most part are as simple as in my book, The Raw Gourmet, yet are very different from mine, adding tons of variety to the books you can go to for recipe ideas.

Now you have four raw food-related books that I recommend. My book, The Raw Gourmet which is considered “The” Raw Food Bible, and the best first book to buy, The Pleasure Principle for the theory about why it can be so hard to resist food we know is bad for us, Living Cuisine which contains tons of useful information and great recipes from simple to complex and now The Raw Truth.

Jeremy Safron has been involved in the raw foods movement for over a decade.
