These little bags have a zillion uses.
Simply take the vegetables, fruits nuts or seeds you will be ..using., blend them in your blender with a small amount of purified water, or no water for high water content produce like melons and cucumbers, and blend on high speed….Then pour the contents of the blender into the Nut-Milk, Juice and Sprout bag over a wide-mouth measuring cup. Squeeze the bag, and Voila! Milk or Juice! It’s simple and easy.
For sprouting: Fill the bag no more that 1/4 of the way with the grain or seed. Let it soak overnight in a glass jar (still in the bag), then 8-12 hours later, lift the bag out of the water and rinse……Let it hang on a hook… somewhere dark with a container underneath to catch the water drips. Check and rinse your sprouts every [4-6 hours] then eat when ready.
For nut milk: Blend the water and nuts or seeds at high speed in blender. Pour contents of the blender into the Nut-Milk, Juice or Sprout bag over a wide-mouth measuring cup. Squeeze the bag and Voila! Nut-milk.
To clean: turn the bag inside out, empty the contents and wash with water or a drop of dish soap. Hang to dry.
This handy little bag of a zillion uses measures approximately 7.5 inches in length, 8 inches across, tapering down to a width of 2 to 2.5 inches across the bottom. The nylon mesh bag has a drawstring, and the tapered shape allows the pulp to settle at the bottom with plenty of room at the top of the bag to squeeze out all the liquid quickly and easily. This bag is very useful for individual or up to two portions of nut-milk or juice and for sprouting in modest quantities. It will hold approximately 1-3 cups.
Small bag Individual price: $9.00 Each
This modified ‘V’ shaped bag is approximately 9.5 inches long, 9 inches at its widest and 2 to 2.5 inches at the base. These bags are handmade and each batch arrives in a slightly different size so the photographs are approximate sizes. This mesh nylon bag with drawstring does all of the above, and is useful for larger quantities. When I am making large quantities of almond milk as a base for my corn chowder, this is the bag that I use. Straining out the pulp goes so much faster than it does with a strainer, this bag really is a must have around the house. Useful for making juices with blended foods while traveling or if you don’t yet own a juicer, also for sprouting larger quantities. It will hold approximately 2-6 cups (or more but best not to overfill)
Large bag Individual Price: $10.00
Mostly I use the two bags for nut and seed milks. I own several juicers so do not have the need to use them with a blender to obtain juice. I haven’t taken the suggestion to put the pulp from the juicer in to wring out for more juice but if you own a juicer that leaves wet pulp this sounds like an excellent money saving idea. Many people use these bags for sprouting as well, along with the sprouting tips above I also feel it is important to keep in an area where there is air circulation. So a dark place with air circulation-usually one of the best spots is in the cabinet under the kitchen sink, leaving the cabinet door open for air circulation.
